NJ - OBX Vacation 2010

Aunty V was a champ, helping Carter and Reese on the slide and wagon at our NJ visit with the family.

Carter loves a good lollipop, especially on the beach after swallowing a mouthful of salt water!!
Above: Carter got to hold this tiny turtle we found on the beach. He was so cute! We ended up taking him back to the pond near our house to give him a new home.

The only way to contain Reese on the beach was to put her in a hole...I know it sounds terrible, but all she wanted to do was crawl right into the ocean!!

One night, we rushed down to the sound just in time to catch this beautiful sunset. The kids liked it too.

Reese spent a quiet moment watching Carter and Daddy ride a go-cart together. She wanted to ride too, I think!

Thank you to Mom and Dad for letting us enjoy their beautiful home for the week. We had such a great time!!!

Stages

Reese is a happy girl these days. She is so glad to be able to crawl wherever she wants to go. Her brother however has really been testing me, hard. He's been so clingy and crabby. He is way harder to handle than Reese right now and I'm just hoping this stage passes FAST!!!
We gave him a new haircut a few days ago and I swear everyone in a 2 mile radius heard the screaming. It took both of us holding him down to get the job done.

Carter turns to Derrick at dinner last night and says, "Dadda, you have a big boy cup."

Derby Drink Disaster

So I made this yummy citrus mint cooler instead of Mint Juleps for a little impromptu Kentucky Derby party last night. We just had a couple of neighbors over to watch and hang out. I made the whole recipe and it was steeping in the pot with the mint...went to strain it out and dumped it all into the strainer...and RIGHT DOWN MY DRAIN!!!! Oh my gosh was I ready to cry when I realized what I had done...this was after I hand juiced about 10 lemons and oranges...I must truly be losing my mind. I did end of making a second batch and they were really good.

Derrick was at a neighbor's house for over 3 hours trying to help him with some wiring so I had to get ready on my own last night. I was running around outside cleaning up the kids toys because it was supposed to rain and caught my dress on the swingset and totally ripped a huge hole in the back of it. I was not having a good night last night.
