The Highlights

So Derrick crossed over into the next decade a few days back. We are getting SO OLD! I have a few more weeks to enjoy my 20's and I intend to savor them!!
Reese learned how to use a drill at 9.5 months old. Oh I am so proud...
Today was pure craziness. The kids are in rare form, both with little colds, and just about driving me insane. Reese was up every two hours last night. (She'd had about 3 good nights before the cold hit). She then slept in till 10 am but took NO nap today. She went through 4 outfits due to 2 poop attacks and one barfing incident.

Carter is just plain crabby...No No NO! All day long. He didn't eat any dinner and doesn't want to do anything. So frustrating!!! He is being SUPER clingy all week long. Last week his clingy-ness during a playdate caused me to fall on a cement sidewalk while I was holding Reese...in order to save her, I had to land mostly on my elbow and also my knee, causing my coat and new jeans to rip. Everyone has been asking me for a week what I did to my arm...arghhh.

We ran errands for 1 hour an in that time the dog chewed through half of our basement door and broke the cat door. She got an earfull when we got home.

I think that is quite enough for one day thank you very much...not that I have anything to say about it. I just clean up the messes...

Drive-Thru Mall

It's decided, after my disasterous afternoon excursion today, I am going to single handedly create the first drive-through mall. Carter and Reese had a rough day...maybe because it's been so nice and then today we were stuck inside. I think Reese is teething because she had two bad nights sleeping...but who knows. Anyway I made the silly mistake this morning about mentioning the playgym at the mall to Carter and ALL DAY LONG he was begging me to go play on the slides.

Finally at 2 I decided to take the kids to the mall...alone...scary I know. About 15 minutes into the 20 minute ride, I look in the rearview and Carter is sound asleep in his seat. Reese too fell asleep and so I turned around and 20 minutes later pulled back into our driveway, feeling incredibly defeated. I was "THIS CLOSE" to seeing the inside of a mall, but alas my plans were thwarted again. Could we not figure out a way to shop from the comfort of a car so the kids don't have to be unloaded or woken from their sleep? :)

Later on Carter was sitting in the driver's seat while I loaded the car, and trying to get the different switches and buttons to work. Nothing obviously was working since the key wasn't in the ignition. He turns to Derrick and says, "It doesn't have any batteries, Dada"...

Oranges, Worms and Elephants

Carter was watching me eat lunch today and I peeled a clementine and started to eat it. He said he wanted a bite and after one taste he was hooked. I told him it was a clementine, and he said, "No, it's a baby orange. I like Baby Oranges!"

While we were playing in Carter's sandbox a bee was buzzing around us. Carter said "I don't like bees." He then saw a spider crawling along the side, and said "I don't like spiders either. I like worms, I don't like bees, I like worms. I like worms the best."

Tonight we mentioned to Carter that we would be going to the zoo this Saturday and he got SOOO excited. He kept saying over and over again, "I go and see the elephants. I want to see the elephants, right now." This went on for at least 1/2 hour. When he refused to eat his dinner I told him we wouldn't be able to go see the elephants unless he ate it. He then started saying, "I don't like elephants, I don't want to see the elephants." Arghhhh

Easter Weekend

Reese had her first "swim" in our pool this weekend. It hit 85 again yesterday so we filled it up and let her splash around. Carter enjoyed pouring water on her head more than anything else. Fortunately, she was a pretty good sport about it.

Carter is now an expert egg-hunter. After doing three egg hunts in the last 4 days, he really has the hang of it. :)

85 in April

It hit 85 degrees here today, a new record. And yesterday was 82...it is WONDERFUL. And I'm sure it won't last but to be wearing our summer clothes already is quite heavenly. We had our neighborhood Easter Egg hunt last night and Carter had a blast. There were at least 100 kids there I think. Reese had fun watching him hunt too.
Reese is very officially crawling now. She is moving all over the place and I can't take my eyes off her for a second. We enter a new phase again...
